Adding a video is a great way to increase the engagement of your visitors on your website. A video can be a great source of useful information.

It can be something about your product to highlight the features and benefits. It can be something like how to use the product or just provide some further useful information.

Whatever it contains, adding a video to your site is an excellent way to add value to your content and provide engaging information to the site visitor.

How Do You Add a Video to Your Site?

You may directly upload a video to your site just like any other media such as images etc. But this is not recommended for a few reasons.

First, it will consume a lot of space on your hosting and you may fall short of desk space.

Secondly, it will use a huge amount of bandwidth and thus using a big chunk of your hosting bandwidth.

Thirdly, hosting your own videos on your site hosting account may slow the loading time.

And Finally, it may negatively affect your site performance.

Yet, you don’t need to worry.

Using third parties platforms such as YouTube and other video sharing sites are great alternatives. You simply grab the code and embed it in you site.

While embedding a video from video sharing sites, you don’t use your hosting resources and thus avoid burdening your site.

Here is a step by step tutorial to add video to your WordPress site.


Go to posts and click edit on the post you want to add video to.

Go to your YouTube and type in the keyword related to your content.

Once you have find a relevant video, click on share. Copy the code in the box which says embed.

Now back on your site, click at the point in your post or page content where you want your video to appear.

Paste the code in the content area.

Preview the changes by clicking the “preview the changes” button to make sure everything works fine. Once you are happy with that, click update.

You may align your video to the right, left or center in your content depending upon your choice or requirement.
