Have you ever considered to add a video to your listing?

Probably, you have.

If not, you should.

In this post I am going to share with you how to add a video to your eBay listing easily.

Why should you add a video to your eBay Listing?

That is a good question. If picture is worth a thousand words, then a video should be worth a million words!

There are many reasons that you may need to upload a video to your listing. For example:

How the product works
How to use the product
How to change a battery
How to take the links off

And so on….

There could be many more reasons depending upon your product.

Benefits of Adding a Video to Your Listings

Ok, but is there any good in adding a video? You might ask. And my answer is
Yes, of course.

There are tons of benefits when you add a video to your eBay listings. Here some of the benefits.

Engages the Customer

There are high chances that when a visitor lands on your listing page, they will click the video either out of curiosity or to get more information. Whatever the case, you keep the customer engaged on your listing page. This arouses the interest of the visitor in your product which may, in turn, affect their buying decision.

 In-depth Detail of the Product

You may show more closely your product which, otherwise, you may not be able to show in such details in the product image.
You may show you product from various angles just in a few minutes video.

You can explain how the product works or show how certain accessories work with your product. For instance taking off links from a watch strap or changing a battery etc.

Higher Conversions

So, you get your visitors more engaged. You arouse their interest. They spend more time on your listing and possibly buy the product.
In other words, posting a video on your eBay listings may increase your conversion rate.

Frees Time

Instructional videos also reduce the customer support and enquiries. This alone is one of the biggest advantages. I have seen queries significantly reduced on listings that have some sort of video which educates the visitor.

Why YouTube?

We all know that YouTube is an incredible place for gaining extra exposure, building traffic and getting subscribers. In fact, there are many people who are earning their living simply by setting up YouTube channels.

You are not limited to using YouTube only. but there are many positive sides of using YouTube videos on your eBay listings. Here are a few reasons

It is easy

There is not technical stuff involved. Once you have your video ready, just upload it and copy and paste the code.

It is free

You don’t have to pay anything like hosting etc. YouTube will host your video for free.

It brings you extra traffic

It is not only free. it will direct more traffic to your listing by putting a link in the description.

How to Add ?

1. Go to create listing

After filling in your title and item specific, go to the description section. Make sure you select Html tab here.

2. Now go back to YouTube and click on the video you want to add to your listing.

Next click on embed and it will show you the following code with a preview of the video.
embed video

Before you select the code you can also customize your video display. To do this click show more just below the code.

After you click show more, you will see a preview of the video and the following options.

options

You can select the size from the drop down menu. You can also choose your own custom size. For an eBay listing, I recommend the default size of
420 x 315

From the other options I recommend to uncheck show suggested video when the video finishes. The reason is that YouTube shows thumbnail links to other videos and chances are that your visitor may click on them and thus leave your page.

3. Now once you are done with all that, copy the code and go back to your listing.

Paste the code in an appropriate place.

You can now switch from html mode to the standard mode to preview the video.

4. Click continue on your listing creation page. On the next prompt click submit your listing and you are good to go.
